Air Bag issues force BMW recall for 200K cars

top_10_affordable_luxury_cars_main.jpg

Citing an issue where over 200,000 models of cars from 2004-06 could have defective air bags that may not deploy, BMW issued a recall notice on 2006 BMW 3-Series, 2004-2006 5-Series and the 2004-2006 X3 SUV. Evidently there could be cracks in the seat detection mat of these cars which could keep them from deploying.

I'm sorry...hold on a second...I have to laugh a bit at this...I mean, how ironic is it that this brand of cars with the luxury feel and sales price has to recall this many cars based on something that really is dangerous and something that the "engineers" that BMW reveres missed or didn't nip in the bud??

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration caught the issue and also said that these cracks could also turn on the passenger air-bag light. *Snicker*
