Air Conditioning and Fuel Economy

auto-air-conditioning.jpg

Ahh, summer. The vacations. The sun. And the heat. With car owners, it’s usually a decision as to how actually cold they want it in their car as opposed as to not using it at all. Let’s face it—in a world of going green, air conditioning seems to continue to be the vice that all of us—including me—hold on to dearly.

When it comes to gas economy, air conditioning is a major foe to reaching maximum potential. While it’s ok to drive around town when you’re not buzzing about at highway speeds with the windows down (hot air blustering in is at least better than nothing at all), the best thing to do as a compromise to using the air conditioning is to use the recirculation button, which uses less energy by cooling the air that is already circulating the cabin.

Of course the most ideal eco-friendly and wallet-friendly way is to not use A/C at all, but I think I’d rather shell out a few more bucks for comfort and for the purpose of not having excessive body odor at the same time. I am sure everyone would appreciate that 
