Canada to offer auto aid package

StephenHarper.jpeg

In light of the recent announcement by President George W. Bush that the United States government would be offering emergency loans to the American auto makers, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has announced that Canada would be following suit in terms of supporting those outfits directly impacted by the bailout move.

While the details of the auto aid package won't be released until tomorrow, experts are guessing that it will be in direct correlation to the almost 18 billion that the US is offering, paralleling the "footprint" that the auto makers have in Canada, which could mean up to 20% of that number.

This is a welcome announcement as the negative announcements and the ideology that president-elect Barack Obama has discussed about the possibility of keeping more jobs/plants within the United States seem to be looming over the Canadian Auto workers and the economy overall.
