Canadian Ford Ad pulled

fordad.jpg

In the world of the politically correct, evidently this one is a no-brainer. Ford recently ran an ad for the Escape, and at the end of the commercial it shows the back of the car with a bumper sticker saying "Drive it like you stole it", with the tag line "Built for life in Manitoba".

Evidently this caused a huge furor, based on Manitoba's reputation for high car theft, that this was pointing fun. Of course, as we all should know, no matter where you are at, if humor is attempted, someone will be offended. However, just like with any other company's advertisement, the moment that somebody gets fired up and starts making calls, companies are quick to back down and get the commercials off the air. Just one time--seriously--just one time--I want to see a company go "Ya know, I am sorry you don't like it, but this is not offensive, and we stand by it".

Perhaps then they wouldn't have to spend so much money on marketing and research and new ads and the like which end up costing us MORE MONEY in the end. Hello people!!! Get over yourselves.
