Can't keep up with the four cylinder!

toyota-camry-ri.jpg

No, silly, I don't mean my car can't keep up with a four cylinder, I am talking about production. A recent study showed that the lack of production ability by not only the big three--but also Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Hyundai--of four cylinders has cost the big kahunas a ton of sales in the past months.

The recent consumer paradigm shift away from SUVs and trucks has meant exponential increases in four cylinder car requests, so much so that experts estimate that a shortage of four-cylinder engines cost GM 10,000 sales in June. Now thatsa spicy meatball!!

Will the trend continue? You bet it will, and with vigor. All of these car makers had better begin to think small to be able to be big again. If it means scrapping a ton other things to get these things rolling off the production lines, do it--just don't scrap jobs.
