Car Sales continue to go down in Europe

June didn't prove to be a good time for the United States car sales. Well, guess what--it didn't pan out so hot in Europe either. Sales from June 2007 compared to this year trailed off by over 8 percent. Overall, volumes fell to 131,876 units as the market continued to slowdown.

Not all of the news was bad--France and Germany actually reported increases, going up over 4 percent for the French and 3.6 percent for the Germans. But even with these silver lining like numbers, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Spain took major hits and it ended up in the 8 percent dip overall.

Volkswagen was the European sales leader, boosted mainly by the Golf, following the trend of small cars being sold--at a 45000 pace for the month. Will the slide continue? It doesn't seem like things will get any better any time soon--globally.
