Chrysler's new vehicle warranty claims down significantly

chrysler-headquarters.jpg

When Cerberus purchased Chrysler last year, there were no bones about the quality end of things that were loud and clear--it needed to be fixed. For years the Chrysler brand has been behind foreign and domestic brands in terms of quality, so when they brought in former Nissan guru Doug Betts to fix it, they meant business. And so far--the move has paid off significantly.

Chrysler reported that an audit of vehicles made after February 2008 have shown a 29% decrease in warranty claims, showing the end product of Chrysler's new focus on quality and also giving it a springboard to make even more adjustments and therefore save the company a lot of overhead in the short and long term. Betts noted that they hope this will "eventually translate to a rise in the third party quality studies" and give more confidence to consumers.

This is good news, and if there's anything that Chrysler needs, it's good news. With the economy the way it is in the United States, it's a definite plus to know that you should be getting a car that won't need to have as many repairs or headaches that could end up hurting your wallet.
