Detroit Auto Show will include Toyota EV

toyota ev.jpg

While there's really no details beyond just the statement (isn't that SO Toyota?), it has been made known that the car maker will have a small, battery-electric urban commuter vehicle concept to the Detroit auto show in January. There will not be a formal press conference, but there will be a spokesperson handy to answer questions while it is being displayed on the floor.

There really is no "model" to really base what the EV will look like, although a Toyota spokeswoman hem and hawed around that it MAY be related to the very small, four-passenger iQ, which was seen at the Geneva show this year. The model for the Geneva show was actually designed for sales within the US and the like, but has not undergone standards for crash testing yet.

It's no secret that Toyota has been trying very hard to accelerate its development for an EV, so it should be very interesting as to what the result will be.
