European Ford Fiesta to get 60+ MPG

fordfiestaeconetic.jpg

The 2010 United States version of the Ford Fiesta will get almost 39 MPG, which is a solid number overall and should be a decent buy (despite the look, which in my opinion is garish). However, with the European turbo diesel version of the car, which is not planned to be sold in the US, that car version will get 63 MPG. Very nice.

The turbodiesel is a 1.6 liter engine that is available in both two and four door models. Ford has gone on record that it feels it will be the cleanest car in the United Kingdom emissions wise, and this is sure to be a big seller overseas.

It still continues to beg the question as to why there isn't even any discussion as to why these types of cars are not even being considered for sales here in the United States. The American car makers are drowning, yet we have to sit outside starving while we watch others eat steak. It's just not fair! :)
