F3DM first plug-in hybrid on market--NOW

480-f3dm-unveil.jpg

Everyone has been swarming about the electric hybrids that the American auto makers have been discussing, and the one in the forefront has been the Chevrolet Volt, set to be distributed in the 2010 model. However, there's another player in the electric hybrid world, and its model is ready--and is being sold--as of this week.

BYD Auto (which stands for Build Your Dreams), a Chinese auto maker which has only been in the business of selling and making cars for 5 short years, introduced the F3DM, which is technically the world's first "new age" electric hybrid to be sold commercially. It has a range of about 60 miles on a full battery charge. Its lithium-ion batteries can be fully recharged in as little as seven hours, said BYD, which stands for Build Your Dreams. And the batteries can be 50 percent recharged at a special station in 10 minutes.

Wow.

Think that the quality may not be as good as the American auto makers? Silly rabbit.

If you question the ability for this car to go up against the other highly marketed cars that haven't even been produced yet, consider this--Warren Buffet owns almost 10 percent of this up-and-comer. And if that doesn't scream profitability, I don't know what does.
