First African-American woman design chief named for GM

gm_windham.jpg

While Barack Obama has broken the barrier of being the first African-American person to be the President of the United States, there is also some history being made at General Motors of the same fashion (you thought I was going to say history as in financial losses, didn't you?). In this, Crystal Windham, who has been with GM since 1994 and the lead on the fab 2008 Chevy Malibu, has been named as the company's director of design.

This marks the first time an African-American woman has been named to the prestigious position.

This is a great achievement for Windham in her own right, but a great step once again for all of us. And the positive press couldn't have come at a better time for GM, who has been bounced around negatively and delivering bad news for what seems like forever.
