Five best selling hybrids in USA contain few surprises

five_best_selling_hybrids_feature_submodel_full.jpg

This isn't really a newsworthy item in terms of their being something of huge substance, but really more of an iteration and confirmation of what many people would be able to assume. The five best selling hybrids in the United States, starting off with the Toyota Prius and then the Camry hybrid, followed by the Civic hybrid, probably would have been the guess of really anyone who remotely follows the car "world".

But when the Highlander and Escape hybrid follow up the "big three" (no pun intended), it basically speaks to the fact that 1) the hybrid future could be more geared to larger cars and 2) Americans still don't want to let go of the SUV concept that they have drowned themselves in over the last decade or so.

I personally am looking to possibly go after an Escape hybrid, but there's something that still draws me to the Honda hybrids--the durability, the proven nature, the mileage overall--and the fact that it would fit my family better than the Prius--but still, I think even with the rise in the crossover and SUV hybrid types, I don't think they'll be passing up the Prius, Camry, or Civic anytime soon, and that the trend is still going to be "small".
