Ford 2009 gadgets given Sirius thought

Alright, Alright, simmer down. I know the title was hammy, but I digress...Anyways, I know that I have literally gushed (no, seriously, I have almost wet myself) about the Ford Sync system, and now the 2009 models will have new and improved Sync technology and many will come complete with a Sirius Travel Link. I'm giddy!

For the smaller model cars, this will mean a 6.5 inch touchscreen which integrates GPS technology and the SYNC technology, combined with the Sirius name, to give drivers alike a more pronounced experience, including a 10GB harddrive that you can rip directly to from CDs, DVD player capability, Sirius automatic updates including weather, movie listings, and the like, which basically means that the wildly popular SYNC name is now getting a facelift that should have people going ga-ga once again. The package option can be added for just short of 2 grand, so it once again is proving that you don't have to have a 50K car to be cool.

Or do you? While Ford continues to pour money into the dashboard, is it still continuing to sell itself short under the hood--where the intent of a car really....should be? I mean, I know I get suckered in to things like this, but is it really worth it to be watching a DVD along side the road while you wait to get your car towed?

Hmmmm....interesting. (I'll probably still buy one in the future, I am a sssssssucker for gadgets...which is exactly why Ford is doing it...call it the "smoke and mirrors" approach)
