Ford can survive the downturn--until 2010

While General Motors has said that if the government will not help its cause that it can last until mid-2009, Ford says that it is in better shape--but only until 2010. After reporting a 3 billion after tax loss in operations for the third quarter, Ford Motor company is burning through cash just fine, but of course with the planned cuts in terms of production and also with white collar jobs being slashed, the focus of 2010 can only actually come to fruition with more cuts and halts overall.

The reserve level that the company has is about 30 billion, and the downturn in the automotive industry is not scheduled to really take a positive direction until mid-2010. Bottom line--the government had better get involved in some way or else these auto makers will be certain to be overtaken in a hostile form or bankruptcy will be imminent. Not good either way--this is definitely a lose lose lose situation for everyone involved. Great.
