Ford Taurus X and Mercury Sable going the way of the dinosaur

ford_taurus_x_crossover.jpg

The Ford Taurus X and Mercury Sable have long been favorites of consumers across the United States, but even the best models have to go the way of the dinosaur eventually. With the economic crisis and plummeting sales of the two vehicles, there has been a decision that both will cease being produced by mid next year.

Both vehicles are produced at Ford's Chicago plant and have been basically doing a swan dive for some time. The Taurus X has sold 22,141 units through November, down 40.7 percent, and the Sable sold 15,586 units, down 20.7 percent.

This is probably a good move overall to make way for fresh and more "hip" styles as well basically trying to rejuvenate the car maker. I owned a taurus once, and it was a great car. Not real easy on the eyes, but I didn't care at that point. However, as soon as I could, I got out of it--perhaps that's been the feeling of car buyers for quite some time now, eh?
