Ford to recall 655K Trucks

07fordf150_05_opt.jpg

Citing a hose issue that could cause major issues with the braking system, Ford plans on starting to recall over 605,000 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark 2005-06 models.

With over 600K in the United States and 50K in Canada, the models that are in question are trucks with 5.4 liter 3-valve engines. There have been 11 reported accidents and Ford plans on offering a free hose replacement that should solve the issue that has caused these accidents.

Recalls can sometimes be embarrassing to a company for things that were really "missed" as issues during testing, but according to the info I've seen, this was one of those things that really would have been difficult to diagnose upfront. The irony is that Ford kind of went off on Toyota when they recalled 30K Tundras, so....I guess they are probably pretty quiet now :)
