France and Germany standing arm in arm to support auto industry

2009 Citroen C4 Coupe.JPG

Everyone in the auto world is hurting, that's no secret. But unlike the United States government, who has been reluctant to give over any more dollars to its core automakers Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors, the France and Germany governments have stepped forward and officially made it clear that they are their to assist their company's auto work force and to help in getting its economies back on their feet.

France, who in some measures has almost 1 out of every 10 people working in some form within the auto sector, has been staunch in their effort to say that they will do whatever they can to assist in getting the recession monkey off the automaker's backs. Germany, which has been a little stand-offish previously as to France's outward "carrying of the torch", has now partnered with the country in its efforts, and this may even mean that they will assist each other if needed. The main focus is Europe--not just their respective countries.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel were together as one in their wish to defend their respective auto industries, through innovation, research or technology — not protectionist measures.

Huh. Novel concept, eh?
