Getting the best price for gas

mapquestgas.jpg

A blog post from 4driversonly talked about the fact that google maps now has a function that allows for you to search for gas prices around you local area to compare. I like this feature and try to utilize it if I have the chance. However, more times than not, it seems that in the immediate area or my path to where my destination is doesn't give me a whole heckuvalot of choices that really benefit me. Unless I find something really good, I normally just go over to Kroger where I get 10 cents off the price :) Of course, that only goes into affect for every 100 dollars I spend in groceries.

I also like to use gasbuddy.com that can break down by zip code the most expensive and the least expensive reported in the last 48 hours. While this may not be the most up to date as we all know the huge swings in gas prices from seemingly day to day, it still gives yet another reference in your quest to save money. I am sure there are more options that I haven't really exploited yet, so I am totally open to what other people have to offer.

We all need something to go off of, don't we?
