GM hiking prices for 2008

Ok, well "most" vehicles. (Notice how I got you to bite though?) :)

Anyways, GM is raising base prices for most 2008 models. The most significant is the Cadillac XLR, with reported increases of approximately 1,500. The other vehicle rate hikes will average out around 500. GM has said this is due to the rise in steel and commodity costs.

So then, if the average is 500 across the board, are we expected to believe that the Caddy necessitates 3 times as much steel and commodity costs than all other models? Hmmm...now that's a mystery. I'll take price gouging for 100, Alex (oops, when he gets back, that is). Oh! And GM has said they are unable to release prices for the Escalade and Corvette just quite yet. Again, how interesting!

One good thing that you can take solace in that vehicles already in dealer inventory aren't going to be affected. Wow, now what a sacrifice....I am sure the GM executives will be out on the cold streets because of having to swallow this....Whatever.
