GM: Oops, Volt pics inadvertently posted

080910-volt2-hmed-8a.standard.jpg

We all know how things work in the internet age. When it comes to anything that creates buzz, it spreads usually from one source and with RSS feeds and alerts constantly updating those that are interested, the buzz can create a furor like wildfire for pretty much anything and everything. Thus the case of the inadvertent photos that were posted this last week on Wieck Media of "production vehicle" pics of the Chevrolet Volt.

The photos were only online for 12 minutes, but other auto sites and blogs snapped them up as fast as most celebrity sites grab any Britney Spears pics that are "worthy" (which seems to be way too much that any human being needs). It wasn't that no one had any idea of what the car was supposed to look like, it was that the pictures were far different from the sleek, sporty look that everyone had thought it would be--in fact, it looks more vanilla than anyone would have ever guessed.

So...if the car comes out actually looking like the one that I have in this post (which were from carconnection, one of the sites that grabbed it), will this actually affect sales? I think that one of the biggest draws was the combination of the plug-in hybrid technology and what it could bring to the table style-wise. With a price tag of over 30,000, I can't see that if it doesn't have the look that it was "supposed" to have that it will help sales, that's for sure.
