Go figure. Dodge Viper the hottest car in Chrysler's stable

So we have been faced with 4 dollar + gas prices, an economy that basically has lost trillions in retirement benefits for millions of Americans, and an uncertain change in leadership. Even before all of this happened, the automotive industry had faced many gray days. So it's quite a shock to learn despite the American way of life turning from gas-guzzlers and being more practical that the Dodge Viper is the head of the class for Chrysler. Yes, that's right, the ultra-expensive-anti-green Viper.

Dealers are moving about 100 units a month for the high-end sports car, but it smacks in the face of what the trend has been for the last year. However, according to Vice Chairman Jim Press, it's not all that huge of a surprise. “Those customers are in a high-income group, and [a Viper] is a safe haven,” Press said. “Look at what’s happened in their stock portfolios: The resale value of Vipers shows they’re still in great demand. Smart investors figure out it’s a safe place to put their money — and also have a lot of fun.”

Must be nice.
