Honda backing off of Odyssey and Pilot production, increasing Civic units

Although Honda has been one of the "last cars standing" when it has come to the staggering losses that most automotive companies have faced in 2008, it still has not fared all that great in the truck and light truck segment. Even though overall the car maker has posted profits in the face of a sagging global economy, it is being proactive in terms of planning for the future.

In this, the company has announced that it will cut its Odyssey and Pilot units by 10,000 units this year. While this production downturn will occur at its Alabama plant, the company has said that it won't be cutting jobs, and instead will up production of Civics at its Ontario plant and in Alabama as well.

This move is not a surprise at all, but again shows the forethought and constant quality improvement that Honda has seemed to put forward even when they are doing "well". At least this won't knock off any workers!
