Honda trying to lure buyers back through Civic leases

2009_honda_civic.jpg

Gas prices are down, demand still seems to be decent for Honda Civics. So now what? Try to turn buyers back into leasers with some new incentives on 2009 models.

(From EGMCartech): Qualified buyers can now get 1.9 percent financing for 24 to 36 months. For 37 to 60 months Honda is offering 3.9 percent financing. Qualified buyers can also go for Honda’s new lease incentive of 36-months for $189 a month with $1,999 down. That’s pretty good comparing to the previous lease terms of $199 per month with $2,799 down. The Civic Hybrid is also included in the promotion.

A decent deal on paper, but why would people want to get back into leasing nightmares? One of the main draws previously was that people who really couldn't afford cars/SUVs etc. could lease--well, the economy is awful, so why would those draws suddenly start up again? I guess they have their reasons....
