Hummer drama: Deripaska says "nyet" to deal talks

In another post that I wrote about a few days ago, General Motors and Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska were in discussion about selling the Hummer brand to the Russian Machines magnate, following the news that Deripaska had been trying to woo GM into marketing the Hummer brand there.

However, Deripaska has come forward to state that no such deal is in the works nor ever has been. It had been discussed that more than likely, if this were to happen, that Deripaska would need to have Magna International, which is Canadian-based, to be involved in production of the vehicles. That obviously would throw quite a pinch into the operations phase and how that would work altogether.

Now one of the buzz stories about Hummer is that GM is also in talks with Indian company Mahindra & Mahindra about a deal. Either way, it's extremely clear that GM is trying to get this thing off its plate before it sinks the entire flagship.
