Indy Racing League to come back to Toronto in '09

After a one year hiatus from Toronto, the Indy Racing League will be back.

And Michael Andretti couldn't be happier. He's not only won more times than any other driver in Toronto, but he's also been the chief lobbyist in bringing the IRL back to the city. Andretti, who is retired, is one of the owners of Andretti Green racing, and with this ownership team, formed a group that actually bought the Toronto Grand Prix assets earlier this summer.

With this year's schedule, the logistical problems of scheduling posed the biggest issue that coincided with IRL's 2008 schedule and Toronto's plans. But now--it is back! And evidently, it's going to be bigger and better. The last time the race was in Toronto, there were less than 20 cars running, but according to officials, the plan will be to have at least 25 for next year. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!
