Iphone and TomTom: Wonder Twin powers—activate!

tomtom.jpg

TomTom is considered to be one of the world’s best satellite navigation system producers, and Apple’s iPhone continues to come out with iterations that make it more affordable and more robust than ever, and these things are being done even as sales and demand for the gadget are high already.

So, what is the plan for these two? Join together, of course!

TomTom has disclosed that they are currently developing software that will run on the second generation iPhone 3G. While iPhone already has a GPS mapping feature that comes standard, the TomTom software will allow individuals to pinpoint their actual locations and even wi-fi hotspots. (Here’s a clue: just look to your left or right, see where the nearest Starbucks sign is, proceed).

This again shows the increase of interest in the auto industry for the tech market. Alongside the hugely popular SYNC system made by Microsoft, we’ve already discussed reports about Dell getting in the biz, and now iPhone and TomTom are obviously trying to corner their little part of the world. Whatever to help the cause (although we know the cause is to ultimately make their own company’s stocks go up, but hey, one has to remain positive in this age, don’t they? DON’T THEY??) 
