IRL: It ain't over yet...

Scott Dixon was actually happy that Justin Wilson won the Detroit Indy-car Grand Prix.

Why? Because the victory was good for him--since Helio Castroneves, who is hot on his tail for the Indy Racing League points title, was penalized for blocking Wilson late in the race. Castroneves never regained the lead, and Wilson took his first win of his career, and also was the ninth person to win a race in the IRL this season--a new record.

Even with this last stat, Dixon has been dominant overall, but as of the last month, has felt the heat from Castroneves and has seen his huge lead dissipate to a meager 30 point lead. Now, he can lock up the title with finishing eighth place or higher in the final race--but if he's relying upon things like what happened in Detroit, who knows what may happen!!

Wilson, an Indy-car rookie who moved over to the series in the merger with Champ-car six months ago, called the victory the most important of his career and dedicated it to ailing car co-owner and famed actor Paul Newman.
