JD Power: Don't expect auto rebound any time soon

news.baldwinauto.120308.cnnmoney.216x164.jpg

Despite the fact that the US government will dole out almost 15 billion and in the end probably more than that to Detroit's Big three, along with the sales estimates when seasonally adjusted looking to be better than anticipated in December, consumer guru JD Power and Associates says "Not so fast my friend."

The respected industry consultant has stated that with all things considered, that consumers should not expect for sales numbers to be much better for the first quarter of 2009 than they were for the last quarter of 2008, which so far has been one of the worst on record. Ouch.

GM's full-year forecast for 2009 is roughly in line with rival Ford Motors It is calling for sales of just under 12 million vehicles in 2009 while Ford is expecting just over 12 million sales in the period. Chrysler has the most conservative forecast. It is predicting car and light truck sales of 11.1 million for all of 2009.
