KBB releases best "road trip" cars

masthead_logo.gif

So, here's a dose of irony for you--I know I have been really hounding on the fact that gas prices have been out of this world (I know that I am one of about 100 million, so no surprise there), but then we have the fact that although gas has risen a solid 40 cents in a single month on average--us Americans have YET to even hit our travel season.

Memorial Day season fittingly has a car race (the Indy 500) and also represents the beginning of the travel season. But of course, with a shaky economy and these gas prices, the fear that retailers and tourist attractions have been biting their nails the entire month of May if, in fact, we'll travel there. And yes we will...you know WE WILL! We love our relaxation and can be frivolous to the point of being idiots, and that's exactly what oil and gas companies are hoping for. But now we have Kelley Blue Book releasing the top 10 travel cars for "road trips", and as you'll see, even Kelley--who has a name that screams high quality--out of the 10 cars, there's not many that you would consider in the ballpark of being green.

The exceptions are the Prius, the Mini Cooper Clubman, and....well, that's about it. The rest of the cars are considerably lower in terms of fuel economy and the reality is--if you're going to be bad, might as well let it all hang out, right? What a sad state of affairs when it's evident that the results of this survey should be the exact opposite--shame on you, Kelley--give us some green love!
