Lets refuel America campaign still going strong

cerritosdodge1_opt.jpg

What a sad state of affairs we are in when we are all wanting to buy in to the idea that 2.99 a gallon for three years is a better deal than cash back or zero percent financing. But that is exactly what has been happening when you consider that Chrysler has decided to extend their "Let's Refuel America" campaign, which was slated to end on May 31, to at least July 7th.

The idea is that when purchasing a Chrysler vehicle, you won't just be able to get the gas for 2.99 no matter where you go. Actually, what will happen is that you will use a credit card at the pump, and then when you bill comes, regardless of what the actual amount was that was charged at the gas station, you will actually just be charged the 2.99 on your bill. Now, with oil prices going the way they have been, it's a mighty big risk for Chrysler to overextend their hands a bit by guaranteeing this for 3 years.

But--it's selling cars, and you can't fault them for trying to throw Americans a proverbial bone for their efforts. The question is--who's risk will it ultimately affect? The consumer or the automaker?
