Lotus driving into India

Lotus is already doing well in foreign markets Thailand and Mexico, and now it will make its way into the Indian market. Proving once again that a carmaker shouldn't rest on its laurels and should continue to always forward think, Lotus will introduce the Elise first within a couple years, according to the company's spokesman.

The Elise S has a modified Toyota 4-cylinder engine (1.8 L). The company is starting to look for dealers throughout Mumbai and the country. The move is not surprising, although most people wouldn't have thought it would be this quick. To bring it to the masses for such a great company is sure to be a financial boon for the British-based company.

However--one of the big questions engineering-wise is that the Indian roads are historically AWFUL, and for such a great type of car with its suspension, will it actually be counterproductive to have them there this early?
