Mazda3 Selling Well in Canada

We now know Toyota is the leading automaker world-wide. We also know General Motors is still king in Canada. We should also know that the Honda Civic is Canada's top-selling sedan and has been for 7-straight years.

While Honda's sales in Canada are as strong as ever, it should be noted that Mazda sales are also sizzling. One of the catalysts driving Mazda's surging Canadian popularity is due in part to the hot-selling Mazda3. The Mazda3 has hit the sweet-spot for Canadian consumers with just the right combination of utility, driveability and good looks.

The one thing almost everybody seems to say about the Mazda3 is how much fun it is to drive. Mazda's 'Zoom Zoom' corporate moniker seems to fit the Mazda3 perfectly. Perhaps the one achilles heel it does have, and where Honda still has a clear edge is in customization. Mazda does offer an optional aero kit, but I'm guessing we see more styling options come on board in subsequent model years and more of such options will be 'standard'.

Will the Mazda3 eventually topple Honda Civic's reign in Canada? Time will tell on that one, but one thing seems clear, the Ford Focus is the odd man out. It's a good thing Ford owns Mazda.
