Nissan to Chrysler: We'll pass

nissan_not_interested_in_buying_chrysler_car_news_submodel_full.jpg

There has been so much speculation lately of the Nissan-Renault faction inevitably going after Chrysler, that most people expected it to already be in the process of changing hands. I mean, let's face it--Nissan will build a version of its Versa B-segment car to be redistributed as a Dodge, and Chrysler will build a version of its Ram as the next-gen Titan full-size pickup. With all of the problems that Chrysler has undergone and the continued success Nissan has had, it just made sense.

However, Nissan has gone on record that they are not interested in purchasing Chrysler. Citing the slumping automotive climate and that product deals work better, it is not in the mix, according to Nissan's CEO. Will it happen eventually? If things don't get better for Chrysler (i.e. the presidential election doesn't bring sweeping changes in terms of giving cash infusions), something's gotta give.
