Nissan to sell Versa for less than 10K

2009_nissan_maxima.jpg

Things aren't going well for Nissan. The 3rd-highest selling Japanese automaker has swooned considerably with the global woes and posted some big-time losses and has even cut its forecast considerably for profit for the year. Nissan will cut global production by 200,000 units this year and will also cut 3,500 jobs in the U.S., Spain and Japan.

The solution? Lower costs!

Taking a page from their competitors, Toyota, Nissan will be offering zero-percent financing on loans for some of its best-selling models, including Altima, Rogue, Sentra, Versa and Murano. They are also offering the Versa at 9,990, almost 2 grand less than the previous cost for the sedan.

This is again a consumers market and things like this will continue to occur to at least get some sales out of the produced cars that are sitting gaining cobwebs on dealer lots. While I think many people are happy things like this or happening, it may not even be the best time yet for consumers to really start gobbling up the savings and incentives--expect more to come from Nissan, Toyota, and the gimmicks that the US auto makers will throw at us.
