Obama: I'll meet with Detroit immediately

barak_obama_news_image.jpg

Barack Obama, in an interview last night, noted that he would immediately meet with the leaders of the Big Three (well, let's just call it the Big two, shall we?) in Detroit as well as the United Auto Workers if elected to work on a strategy to assist in planning and moving forward. Obama is on record to try to double the 25 billion dollar bailout package as well as urging Congress to get the funds to the auto makers quicker.

Is this just another political posture or does it have merit?

Obama and John McCain have both voiced their concern for assisting the American auto industry, but that subject has fallen to the wayside as the global economy and wall street in general has become the main focus over the past month. While the subject of oil drilling (Drill, baby, Drill!) has continued to rear its head from time to time, with the depression of gas prices, that too has become kind of a back-burner issue.

My point is that this comment is kind of "off". It doesn't make much sense that it would suddenly be a huge priority for Barack because it hasn't been discussed at length for a while--my take? He's still stumping and there's nothing more to it. But at least it was brought back up again....
