Pontiac: No G3s for United States--Yet

pontiac_g3_vibe_news_image.jpg

Despite the fact that the Chevrolet Aveo-based Pontiac G3 has been approved by the EPA for sales in the United States, Pontiac states it has no plans to do so. According to Pontiac's spokesperson, the vehicle isn't ready for US "consumption". Huh?

The 1.6 liter DOHC engine can push this little wonder up to 107 horsepower. With the EPA's gas economy of the G3 standing at 25/34 MPG, it is still baffling to me why car makers such as Pontiac are not running--sprinting--towards importing these to a place where the assumption is that it would sell very well and everyone would be happy. I guess not.
