Prius Hybrid Coupe on the way from Toyota

toyota_prius_coupe.jpg

It's been well documented that Toyota is working on expanding the prius concept to an entire slew of family-branded vehicles, and there have been some details given as to what different items will be offered. For one, a small-pickup based on the 2008 A-BAT concept and a sporty 2+2 coupe that will compete with the upcoming Honda CRZ Hybrid Coupe. (Source Motor Trend)

The coupe will actually have a lower roofline than the 2010 version of the Prius but will share the same type of Powertrain in the model that will be shown at the '09 Detroit Auto Show. The coupe will be a bit lighter than the normal model, which actually will give the Prius, already known for its gas economy, even better MPG. Scion is supposed to be the badge for this type of coupe, which clearly shows a move towards trying to boost Scion's name a bit with a quality product.

I like this coupe concept and it will definitely turn some heads. I assume that it will be much less boxier and more sportier, which is definitely a plus as compared to less-than-pretty Prius look we've all become accustomed to.
