Renault and Nissan talks with Chrysler end

renault nepta.jpg

Renault and Nissan had been in talks with Chrysler for possible acquisition talks, the operative words being had been. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that Renault-Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Gohsn said that it was merely speculation that he was in talks with Chrysler.

Basically, this now means that the impending merger between Chrysler and General Motors has no other bothersome potential deals on the table. While the financing and the decision for such won't be made probably at least for another week or two, it's certainly full steam ahead for the deal. Of course, neither Cerberus or Chrysler had any comment on either deal.

Is this a surprise? Nope. Just another confirmation of what is just over the horizon. I still can't wrap my head around whether this is really a good thing or a bad thing overall.
