Report: Bailout vote deferred for business plan

handout02.GIF

Breaking news! Breaking news!

Ok, well, not really....but at least it sounded good. Word from Washington is that the 25 billion that the Big Three are asking the US federal government to provide will not be voted on until December, as Congress is demanding that a business plan be put in place to show how the money that will be granted will be used to make Ford, Chrylser, and General Motors more competitive in the automotive landscape.

While this is not a huge surprise, the fact that the deferment until December for this matter is more than likely a major concern for the Big Three. First of all, to come up with an elaborate plan in that short of time is asking a lot, and secondly, the fact that the companies are asking for the money to merely stay afloat as of spring means that every day they don't have the money is more critical.

Although I can't really be too upset with Congress as to asking for a plan, I didn't see the same type of emphasis put on other industries when the 700 billion dollar bailout plans were thrown out there. Maybe it's just me....
