Report: GM-Chrysler merger talks not true

istock_000004056755xsmall.jpg

The Wall Street Journal reported that unnamed sources had discussed that General Motors and Chrysler had discussed another potential merger in lieu of the failed bailout vote. However, this has been denied vehemently after it was released.

"We are not in merger talks with Chrysler," said GM spokesman Tony Cervone in response to an Inside Line query Thursday morning. "We stated in November that any talks related to a potential merger were tabled so we could focus on our liquidity situation. That remains the case."

So, you think this is true? Methinks something is up...but a definitive merger discussion at this point, to me, would be just as a failsafe, although not even that is an end-all be-all.
