Shhh...Big Three ready to start hiring again

help-wanted.jpg

I was reading a blog out of Lansing, Michigan, and it was discussing that the word on the street is that after what has seemed like decades of downsizing, the American auto makers--the Big Three--are ready to hang out the help wanted sign and ready to hire more personnel.

The difference is that don't expect this to mean that suddenly people are going to be hired at the same level and assume that all is good--the fact is that the American economy is slumping (shhhh...don't say recession) and therefore since sales are not booming, this means that there is a need to boost production, but it will be at lesser terms--workers will be hired at lower entry level pay, but with Michigan's unemployment being sooooo high, you have to take what you have to take--and this could be a win-win for the economy considering that the estimates are that the hiring process will begin soon and go through 2011.

Of course, this means the buyouts and early retirement offers will probably have to come to an end, but this is a perfect set up for them--take out some old-timers that are taking up big paychecks and bigger pensions and big benefits--and then replaced with younger workers--maybe not as skilled-but still skilled nonetheless. This is great news all around.
