Smart For Two making Micro Hybrid Standard

smart_for_two_news_image.jpg

Now that's smart.

Smart for Two, which offered Micro Hybrid technology as an option for their models, will now have it as a standard feature for all models with the next generation of the ittie-bittie car. MHD, which basically means that since there is no clutch to shut down and restart the engine in the automatic Smart ForTwo, Smart uses the term ‘micro hybrid’ for the start-stop system which shuts off the engine when the drive hits the brakes and the car is traveling below 5mph.

By having the MHD in place, the combined fuel economy for the Smart ForTwo is approximately 55 MPH. This is a great thing and even more incentive for people to get out and get the curiously small but effective cars. With the sales already booming for this new enterprise combined with this new little facet, I am sure that the numbers will continue to climb. Great news for those looking to get this car.
