Start up working towards making F-150s get 40+MPG

ac-ford-f150.jpg

A Ford F-150 hybrid? Really? Isn't that an oxymoron? Well--Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies, Inc. (HEVT) which is a start up out of the Illinois Institute of Technology, it certainly isn't, and with the growing inventories of trucks on dealers lots and end of lease "dropoffs", the company has designed a bolt-in hybrid system that pairs a hefty electric motor, batteries, electronics, and software with the stock F-150 drive train.

With this hybrid system, the truck, which has hung around the 18-20 MPG gas economy for a while now, actually will make over 40+ MPG. HEVT is wanting to take the opportunity of all of this downturn in truck sales as well as the prime opportunity where Americans and the public are looking for anything that can help everyone out, this could be a MAJOR find if it is indeed successful.
