Sub-F-150 Plans for Ford

Gas is controlling our auto world, there's no question. When Ford announced earlier that they would be designing two new trucks that are "sub" F-150 models, the idea was obviously to create a similar design but lighter and with better fuel economy. The two models, one which may be called the F-100 which is a tribute to the 1950s model of the same name, and the other which is codenamed T6, which is essentially the replacement for the Ranger.

This goes hand in hand with Ford's plans to have a very busy 2010 and 2011 after they sold off the Jaguar and Aston Martin to get development money for not only this development, but also the revamped Fusion line. This is a good move--and while GM is basically shutting down their SUV and Truck market or at least just making severe cuts, at least Ford is thinking ahead and keeping the spirit of the truck "genre" and just customizing it for global needs and what not; the F-100 will not come in eight cylinder, but just 4 cylinder and V6 Ecoboost.

Purists will balk at the change probably, but I think this is a shrewd move by Ford (for once). Yey!
