Tesla Roadsters to get temp transmissions--but then what?

The Tesla Roadsters were supposed to be basically out, well, now. Many "investors" plunked down a ton of money as a deposit for the emissions-free joyride, and basically have become almost to the point of being incensed that not only is the Roadster not done, but there's been some adjustments to the original estimates. One of those is the range estimate was at 245 miles, and now this number stands at 220-230.

So, the company decided to have a town hall meeting for those that had put in some change on the six-figure apparition, and the initial idea was that the first person to receive the car--the chairman Elon Musk--will have the car fitted for him and it will have a temporary tranny that will basically go kaput after the first few thousand miles. Will others have to have this solution to quell the masses?

Possibly, but something like this was thought that it the delivery date may have been a little premature considering that engineers want the car to shift gears smoothly without losing torque, and if that doesn't happen, the performance of the car goes down dramatically, so be patient, Tesla would-be owners. I am sure the end result will be well worth the wait.
