Trickle down effect idles Ford plants

Ford had announced in early December that it would be trimming production for the first quarter by 7% as to "control inventory". What does this mean? Well, at a minimum, a freeze on employees and temporary lay offs.

The trickle-down effect is that two plants, in Louisville, Kentucky, and Dearborn, Michigan, have temporarily been "idled". These two plants are responsible for the F-Series trucks, and with those truck sales specifically down by over 12% and Explorers down a whopping 23%, the move to keep from having excess inventory could be a long time coming for these workers to resume their work.

This could be the start of many different things with Ford, but some say this move is too much of "the sky is falling". Of course, no one has ever blamed auto makers for being patient. Stay tuned--this could get ugly.
